Veterans Support
At Parkwood Surgery, we recognise and appreciate the contribution of current and former members of the UK Armed Forces. We are committed to supporting veterans and their families by helping them access appropriate NHS care and specialist services when needed.
If you have previously served in the UK Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve), you may be entitled to additional NHS support.
The NHS is committed to ensuring that veterans and their families receive the care they need, including access to dedicated services for physical health, mental health and wellbeing.
Who this applies to
You may be eligible for veteran-specific NHS services if you are:
-
A military veteran (anyone who has served for at least one day in the UK Armed Forces)
-
A service leaver
-
A non-mobilised reservist
Please let us know if you are a veteran so we can ensure this is recorded on your medical record.
Priority treatment
Veterans are entitled to priority NHS treatment for conditions related to their service (subject to clinical need). This does not mean jumping queues, but ensures service-related health issues are recognised appropriately.
Specialist NHS services
There are dedicated NHS services available for veterans, including:
-
Mental health support
-
Physical rehabilitation
-
Support for long-term conditions
-
Specialist assessment services
