Maternity Services at Local Hospitals
If you think you may be pregnant, you will need to self-refer directly to the maternity services. The GP surgery does not make referrals for maternity care.
You can self-refer online using the following link: Refer yourself for NHS pregnancy care – NHS
After completing your self-referral:
- a midwifery team will contact you to arrange your first antenatal (booking) appointment
- you will be given information about your pregnancy care and screening options
- you antenatal care plan will be explained, including where your appointments will take place
You do not need to see a GP to self-refer for maternity care unless you have a medical concern or need advice unrelated to your pregnancy referral.
