Parkwood Surgery: Under New Management

From 1 October 2026, Fernville Surgery will take on the management of Parkwood Surgery for an initial period of 12 months.

This is known as a “caretaker” arrangement. It is not a merger, and Parkwood Surgery will continue to operate as your local GP surgery.

You remain registered at Parkwood Surgery, and your registration, medical records and ongoing care will continue as normal. You do not need to do anything.

Getting started

As we begin, there is a great deal for us to understand and, inevitably, a significant amount of work to do.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will take the time to listen to patients and staff, understand how the practice currently operates, and identify where improvements can be made.

We want to be open with you that this will take time. Some changes may be introduced relatively quickly, while other improvements will require careful planning and will take longer to put in place.

Our aim is to make changes that improve the experience and quality of care for patients while ensuring that the practice continues to provide safe and effective services throughout the transition.

What’s changing?

Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing new systems and processes designed to improve access to appointments, communication and continuity of care.

As with any changeover, there may be a short period while new systems and processes are being introduced and staff become familiar with them. During this time, some services (such as answering calls or booking appointments) may occasionally take a little longer than usual.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these changes become established.

What’s not changing?

  • You remain registered with Parkwood Surgery

  • The surgery remains at the same address

  • Your medical records and ongoing care will continue as normal

  • You do not need to re-register or take any action

  • Your usual NHS care and services will continue to be available

If you need us during the transition

Our reception and clinical teams are here to support you as normal.

If you experience any difficulty contacting the practice or booking an appointment during the transition, please let us know. Your feedback will help us identify where additional support or improvements are needed.

Why are we making these changes?

The new systems and processes we are introducing are intended to improve access, continuity and the overall quality of care for patients at Parkwood Surgery.

We recognise that changes to your GP practice can raise questions and may sometimes feel uncertain. We will keep you informed as the transition progresses and will update this page with further information and important developments.

More information about the caretaker arrangement can be found on the Intergrated Care Board (ICB) webpage.
